Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing treatment in which a solution is applied to remove the outer layer(s) of the skin, exfoliating dead skin cells and permitting new skin to grow back smoother and younger-looking. Chemical peels are used to treat sun damage, fine wrinkles, skin discoloration, active acne, and acne scars. A peel can be performed alone or in combination with other cosmetic procedures. Peels are typically performed as a series of multiple treatments to most effectively help achieve your desired results.

We utilize the Cosmedix Elite line of chemical peels in our medical aesthetics treatment room. The Elite line features a blend of chirally-correct acids that works deep to eliminate impurities and correct the look of impure skin and is used as a non-wounding resurfacing treatment designed to stimulate skin renewal.

Chemical Peels FAQ

What areas/concerns do Chemical Peels address?

Chemical peels are a non-invasive treatment used to treat sun damage, fine wrinkles, skin discoloration, active acne, and acne scars. A peel can be performed alone or in combination with other cosmetic procedures.

Peels are typically performed as a series of multiple treatments to most effectively help achieve your desired results.

What should I expect during treatment?

During the consultation with your provider, you will discuss concerns, recommendations, and treatment plan. Your skin will be cleansed prior to the procedure. This is a non-surgical treatment and does not require anesthesia.

Next, we will gently apply the peeling solution while timing the length of application and closely observing your skin’s response to the treatment. We will then neutralize the peel and cleanse the skin. As your skin becomes healthier with each subsequent treatment, we are often able to increase the time of application in order to achieve continued improvements.

How long does a Chemical Peel treatment take?

The entire procedure will take about 20 minutes.

Does it hurt?

Chemical Peels fall at a 1 on the pain scale on a pain scale of 1 to 5. 1 having the least pain and 5 having the most pain.

A minimal amount of discomfort can be expected during the application of the peel, but this typically resolves with
neutralization. Some patients have a sensation of warmth for several hours after the treatment, which usually abates with rest
and ice. Immediately following treatment, we will apply a thin layer of Vaseline and/or sunblock to the area.

Is there downtime?

There is minimal to no downtime. You may resume your daily activities or return to work after receiving treatment.

How long will my results last?

Your skin will be noticeably smoother and your complexion clearer after a single treatment. Best results come from a course of 3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart.

Results will vary based on your skin type, but typically, you can expect results to last 3 to 6 months after your course of treatments.

How much do Chemical Peels cost?

Each Cosmedix Elite Chemical Peel treatment costs $195.

Are there contraindications?
